Good enough … isn’t

Getting by these days is keeping a job. I’ve seen many mediocre technicians “getting-by” producing good-enough results. By keeping their heads low…or…keeping their noses to the grindstone…or…keeping their efforts under the radar is the worst thing to do right now! Being unnoticed puts these technicians in front of the line for pink-slips.

Doing the bare minimum has a larger negative impact on the company’s success…it keeps the company in a stand-still position. This stand-still position provides an opportunity for those companies that do just a little bit more to trample on those companies that don’t. Now is the time for companies to shed the commodity of employees that do just the bare minimum.

This is the time for you to take action and separate yourself from the rest. It is time for you to show the business community that you provide real business value. Show the business community that you are ready to do just a little bit extra to make your company number one.  This shows the business community your loyalty…this shows commitment…this shows that you care about the business. Do it for your business community…not your manager. Do just a little bit more than the rest.

Don’t understand the effect of doing a little more…read today’s Seth Godin’s blog post.

Prioritize your list of action items by what your business users perceive as valuable.
